Privacy Policy
Effective date: August 6, 2026
What we don't do
- No account required, no sign-in
- No ads, no third-party ad SDKs
- No analytics, behavioral tracking, or fingerprinting
- We never sell or share your data
Data that stays on your phone
Everything you record in Spoolery — spools, photos and stickers of your makes, grams, prices, notes — is stored in a local database on your device. We run no servers that hold this data and cannot access it. Deleting the app deletes all of it, so please keep that in mind.
How photos are processed
By default, label scanning, sticker cutouts, and name suggestions all run on your device using Apple's Vision / VisionKit frameworks. Photos never leave your phone.
Optional Cloud Recognition
You can enable Cloud Recognition in the side menu for better accuracy. It is off by default. When enabled:
- Scanning labels / order screenshots sends only the text recognized on-device (OCR) — never the photo itself;
- Naming a make sends one downscaled photo (longest side 512 px);
- This content travels through our relay on Cloudflare (api.spoolery.app) and is processed by third-party AI services: Zhipu AI for label parsing and Google Gemini for naming. Our relay does not store your photos or text;
- The third-party services handle this content under their own terms; their free tiers may use inputs to improve their models. If that concerns you, simply leave Cloud Recognition off — every feature of the app works fully in on-device mode.
Purchases
The full-version unlock and tips are handled entirely by Apple's In-App Purchase system. We never see or store any payment information.
Children's privacy
Spoolery is not designed for children under 13 and does not knowingly collect personal information from children — in fact, it doesn't collect personal information from anyone.
Changes to this policy
If this policy materially changes, we'll update this page and the effective date. Significant changes will be noted in the app.
